They almost got it right this time. Online matchups is a bit mismatched, if you do manage to find someone they're like on level 40 while your on level 2, or 3 makes for a terrible new player experience. The way they did it in previous games was much better. The single player experience is awesome but short though, wish i could reset it and go though it again. Another problem is its pay to win if you dont spend money to buy packs, your just not going to win. Now the biggest flaw is if you already have 4 copies of a card any future copies will just disappear, you get nothing for them.
You can buy a pack and get 0 cards ? Other card games you can convert your extra copies into currency to buy more card packs. At least that would be fair.
Better than their previous attempts at an MTG game. In the end i still prefer playing this than (money pit) paper magic anyday. To preface this, I have logged an unhealthy 40 days ingame. That being said, if you have any interest in this game, please be aware the developers unceremonially announced that they are no longer supporting this product. That means there will be no more expansions, and every current bug will never be fixed. I can only recommend this game if you only wish to play with a friend or AI as I'm sure the multiplayer community will begin to dwindle as news on its lack of support spreads.
If you haven't been dissuaded, please don't purchase ingame currency as you are no longer fighting to stay ahead of the next expansion, and are throwing your money away on a dead product instead. Submitted on 3/10/2017 Review title of Havok6sic6Could be fun The game is completely pay to win, which would be fine, if they set the matches up fair. They match me against a rank 20 when I'm rank 1, and a rank 40 when I'm rank 6. When someone has spentt $12 just on their decks appearance, I'ts a safe bet that they have over $100 worth of cards. Again, Idon't mind if someone wants to spend that much, but I shouldn't have to play against them untill I have some cards unlocked. This seems like something that could easily be fixed, but the way they have the match making set up now is like putting a feather weight in the ring with a heavy weight. Submitted on 6/5/2017 Review title of UnknownDefeats the parts of MTG that make the game what it is Magic has always been a game that favors consistency, and rewards tactics along with cunning in the game format.
This program fails to do this on multiple levels, and aside from the 'open packs until you have four of a card' brute force mechanic, even single player matches tend to feel like 'hey, new set so cpu player gets all rares and good cards'. You get to shell out for any packs of the new set, or feebly try to overcome CPU opponents to scrounge up coins. The focus of creativity is killed with trying to overcome troll decks and speed decks using all the available means, to the point that a new set release is a dirge. Longtime casual player, 1997-2017. While this is the largest card experience for a MTG game yet, it is missing the expansive gameplay of previous MTG games. The lobby system is gone all together, which reduces the friends play to a 1 on 1 experience. Where did three-way and free for all go? The underplayed but extremely exciting Planechase hasn't even been used since MTG 2013.
Magic for consoles used to be a great place to hangout and have conversations, now you play with one friend and grind for cards vs AI opponents. Please, we just want you at your best. Show your loyal fans some love and you WILL receive it.

There is nothing in the game that alerts you this. It was announced only via a blog post on 6/13/2017 on the Wizards/Magic site.Original Review: I've been a MtG fan for 20+ years.
This version of the game will unapologetically waste your time. It is desigened to be frustrating and unrewarding even if you're paying to win.
Save your money and your sanity; Join a real draft instead, get some real cards, and actually enjoy your time playing rather than suffering through this slog. Submitted on 6/21/2017 Review title of Soiled Snake007Review based on matchmaking alone why do you match rank 1 with rank 40's? How is that fair.
At rank 1 your card base is tiny nothing useful just starter cards, every deck i play against plainswalkers, and OP legendarys. Whats the point of ranking if you match rank 40's to smash on rank 1's?? Also when you do manage to rank up to rank 3 and then lose to another rank 40 you get booted back down to rank 1??? How the hell does that even make sense?
Submitted on 5/24/2017 Review title of Unknownrigged ive never seen such terrible ai, ive also never played a player that was real or ai that had a solution to every problem all of the time. Also read on a magic forum about this game from another player that the game will only load 20% of the deck at a time. Thats bull, i love magic but this game has soooo many flaws and it shouldn't, its been how long?? After playing 50 or so games i noticed that i only got to first twice, the ai would constantly either lay land or play a creature never seems to mulligan and always seems to has destroy creature card or a way make a threat disappear, the ai aslo seem never have mana issues, but here it comes ive only experience too much mana or none at all. Im 28 ive been playing since i was 15 so i know my way around and ive never ran into luck like that.
